Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar is described as being full of mystery, romance and adventure. The storytelling here is definitely fun and unique! Trader Sam is a famous explorer who uses local, exotic ingredients to concoct "magical libations". He's also collected rare artifacts and trinkets and put them on display for all to enjoy.
I'm sure you'll have fun deciphering the names of all the drinks and their ingredients, like the HippopotoMai-Tai and the Zambezi Sour, but you'll also want to check out the delicious meals available.
Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar is located right next to Tangaroa Terrace restaurant in the Disneyland Hotel pool area. There's also a large fireplace where guests can enjoy drinks and socialize.
Our family made a reservation for about 1:00 in the afternoon so we could fuel up before the Oogie Boogie Bash at California Adventure Park. Most days in California are perfect for the outside dining area and we loved having the sun and fresh breezes on the wrap around terrace! Scroll through the slideshow below to explore the decor and ambiance Trader Sam brings to his guests.

Let's take a look at the drinks!!

Now for the eats! The dining menu is from Tangaroa Terrace, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dishes are island inspired with fresh flavors like guava, avocado, edible flowers, teriyaki and unagi aioli. I have eaten here a couple of times and have never been disappointed! Let's check out what we ordered on this visit!

We began with the Panko-Crusted Long Beans and of course, the kids squawked about ordering green beans. I can tell you, though, that dish was empty within just a few minutes!
The beans were fresh and tender. The panko bread crumbs offered a fabulous crunch and the togarashi aioli gave the perfect bit of heat.
With a larger family, we were able to order several different dishes and everyone was very satisfied!

The Hawaiian Platter comes with your choice of marinated short rib or teriyaki chicken. We opted for the ribs and were not disappointed! The meat was so tender and was slathered in the perfect teriyaki sauce.
The dish came with Jasmine rice, traditional mac salad and cole slaw.
Personally, I felt the slaw to be a bit flavorless after experiencing such rich flavors in the other food.
We ended up with 2 of the 1/2 Pound Hawaiian Cheeseburgers and I can tell you, it tastes as good as it looks! This burger is loaded with grilled pineapple, applewood-smoked bacon, havarti cheese, a sweet and spicy mayo and all the toppings like butter lettuce, tomato and onions. Ooh, the sweet potato fries were delightful!

Boy oh boy, do I love poke bowls! I usually have a tender palette and can't handle too much heat. This bowl had plenty of heat, but not enough to turn me away from enjoying every last morsel!
The bowl is filled with sushi rice, crab salad, cucumber, edamame beans, crispy fried onions, smashed avocado, togarashi aiolo and your choice of ahi tuna*, salmon* or marinated tofu.
We had the tuna and felt the bowl was nicely sized and all ingredients were fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend this dish!

The kids chicken teriyaki rice bowl comes with jasmine rice, steamed broccoli, fresh pineapple wedges and chicken cubes.
It's very simple, but followed suit with the other dishes in the freshness and flavor.
The menu offers multiple allergy-friendly options, Dole Whips and other desserts. We opted to skip the dessert menu so we could save room for Oogie Boogie Bash treats.
Overall, I highly recommend Trader Sam's for great drink concoctions, socializing time with your traveling party and the main menu dishes! Everything was prepared well and had great flavors.
